MKULTRA was the CIA’s real behavioral-control program (1953–1973) — drug experiments, hypnosis, sensory deprivation, unwitting subjects — exposed by the Church Committee in 1975 and the Senate hearings of 1977. It is the shelf’s anchor: the conspiracy program that turned out to be documented fact.
