PEOPLE OF THE CANON — REAL AND INVENTED

The Roster

Every name the archive holds a file on. The Precedents are real people, dead and documented — the authors and actors the mythology itself cites, filed the Grounded way: the canon's reading beside the record. The Directorate is the codex's invented cabinet — fictitious figures, drawn and dossiered, each one an embodiment of a documented technique. Real files carry the record; invented files say so on their face. The two never pretend to be each other.
